How long does Partner Visa take? My Experience.
I moved to Australia in 2013 when I married my wife who is an Australian citizen. However, I had no choice but to come here on a 3 months Tourist Visa. Partner Visa application to Australian whether offshore or onshore is a lengthy and complicated process *. It took me almost 2 years to get my provisional partner visa. I had applied in late 2012 and was granted in mid 2014. This was after I threatened to go to Commonwealth Ombudsmen and file a formal complaint. We got married in Canada in 2013 and had already applied for Prospect Marriage Visa (Subclass 300). We got married before it was granted. So I contacted the Home Affairs department (Department of Immigration at the time) to change my visa application to Partner Visa (Subclass 309).
